Learn to sew with Andrea Cross
Service Description
Students will make a standard pillowcase and drawstring bags 2 ways – something simple, rectangular and immediately useful. Suitable for all ages. Perfect if you just got a machine, have been wanting to learn to sew or need a basic refresher course. All you need is the desire to learn! Two machines will be available for student use, or you can bring your own machine. If you would like to make multiples items, bring extra material. Materials list: 1 ¼ yards of woven cotton fabric 1 yard ¼” or 3/8” ribbon Coordinating thread – some stitching will show so choose if you want it to blend in or stand out Kits will available for $10 if you do not have material of your own. Skills covered in the class include basic machine maintenance, threading a sewing machine; adjusting tension; winding a bobbin; squaring up the fabric grainline; fabric marking, cutting, Andrea grew up under her mother's avocado green Singer and has been sewing for 40 years. She sews 1/3 of her clothes, is an accomplished cosplayer and sewing machine mechanic. Maximum of 6 students, minimum of 3 students.
